Aromatherapy Massage

For this aromatherapy massage, up to four essential oils will be will be individually selected and blended in the massage oil, to suit the required needs.

Aromatherapy massage works in several different ways. The massage itself is deeply relaxing both physically and mentally as it soothes away stress and tension. The essential oils are absorbed through the skin, the chemical components of the oils interact with the body’s chemistry, affecting hormones, enzymes and the nervous system.

The oils also work through our sense of smell, which is directly connected to the limbic system of the brain. This controls emotions and influences the nervous systems and hormones.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue therapeutic massage focuses on realigning the deep layers of muscles and connective issue.

This is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas. The treatment promotes deep relaxation, releases pain, improves muscle flexibility and movement and improves posture.

Various techniques are used to release trigger points, breaking the cycle of muscle spasm and to stretch out muscle fibres. Including myofascial release. By applying gentle sustained pressure into the restricted connective tissue, pain can be eliminated, restoring motion.

Fertility Reflexology

Reflexology is a gentle holistic therapy that can help ensure your mind and body are in the best possible condition prior to conception.

Stress is one of the main causes of infertility and menstrual problems, the stress reduction benefits of reflexology cannot be under estimated.

The treatment works on balancing all of the body’s systems, including regulation of hormones and ovulation.

Both women and men can benefit from treatments. For women, two treatments per cycle is ideal to regulate menstruation, one during menstruation and a second at pre-ovulation on days 10-14.

Reflexology is also very effective during fertility investigations and the IVF cycle. Treatments will help you cope with medical tests and prepare your body for fertility drugs.

Maternity Reflexology

Reflexology helps to restore the emotional and hormonal balance of your body and can ease the physical challenges of pregnancy. Research has shown that regular reflexology treatments during pregnancy can shorten the duration of labour and significantly reduce the need for pain relief. Reflexology can often help prime overdue labour, after week 40 very specific priming techniques can be used to help promote labour.

Treatments are extremely safe and can be carried out throughout pregnancy.

After pregnancy, the falling hormones have a major effect on a new mother’s emotions and the new pressures of caring for the newborn, breast feeding and lack of sleep. Reflexology can help calm and ease an anxious mother and encourage the menstrual cycle to return to normal, reduce the effects of post-natal depression and promote good breast feeding.

Pregnancy Massage

Massage during pregnancy has significant benefits for both the mother to be and developing baby. As the baby grows the mother’s centre of gravity gradually shifts. This increased weight the mother has to carry causes physical stress. Hormonal changes have a huge effect on emotions and loosen joints, ligaments and tendons causing discomfort, particularly in the lower back and pelvic region.

Massage helps alleviate aches and pains, and provides the mother to be with invaluable time for rest and relaxation. From the second trimester pregnancy massage takes place with the mum to be lying on her side.

After the baby has been born massage can continue to support the mother. Breast-feeding and carrying the baby causes aches in the back, neck, shoulders and arms. Massage helps to release these new tension areas and gives the mother some time to relax and restore her energy.

Baby Massage

These sessions teach parents how to massage their babies.

Being massaged by their parents is probably the best remedy for most of baby’s day to day problems. Massage is a great combination of touch and attention that babies love. This interaction is an extremely important form of communication between parent and baby, helping with the attachment and bonding process.

Baby massage will allow you to understand your baby’s subtle non verbal language and develop your ability to listen to your baby through the creation of a special intimate time together.

Massage greatly aids baby’s digestive systems providing relief from wind, colic, constipation and teething. It can provide relaxation and calm for you both and help encourage your baby’s sleep.

One-to-one clinic based sessions, for one or both parents.
